As we partake in the holiday season and the start of a new year, the reality that members of our community might be struggling with food insecurity becomes more apparent. Perhaps you might be surprised to hear that the USDA estimates that over 7% of the population in Monmouth is considered food insecure. While that percentage may not seem hefty, it equates to over 44,000 people that face uncertainty in when and where their next meals may come from.

Thankfully, Lunch Break exists in the county to “provide food, clothing, life skills and fellowship to those in need in Monmouth County and beyond.” They are fortunate to not only work diligently to tackle the hunger disparity in the community by alleviating hunger wherever necessary but also to focus their efforts on other areas of improving the lives of our neighbors.
